The Voice: Windrush wrongly removed

Image
Windrush: Three People Wrongly Removed Flown Back To UK 3 passengers who were wrongly deported from the United Kingdom have been allowed back into the UK and the Home Office even paid their flights back which departed from Kingston, Jamaica and arrived at London, Gatwick. In total up to this day, 13 people who were deported from the UK have been given the right to return back. This is an example of hard news as it talks upon the topic of immigration and especially focuses on the Wind rush generation which is a very recent situation. Why would it appeal to the audience? Personal Identity : People who are from the Caribbean or are even a part of the Wind Rush generation  can relate to the people being reported on as they too are from the same place or  may even have family members that have been affected by this. Surveillance : Many people would like to keep track of what is going on with the deportation of the Windrush generation since it began and this artic

Teen Vogue: 7-Year-Old Jackeline Caal Died in Border Patrol Custody After Migrating From Guatemala

Image
7-Year-Old Dies in Border Patrol Custody After Migrating From Guatemala A 7 year old, Jackeline Caal, has died in in Border and Customs Patrol Custody after travelling with 163 other people, some family members, to the border in New Mexico. They turned themselves in around 10:00 on December 6th, the next morning the little girl had a fever and was having seizures, it was reported that she had not "eaten or consumed water for several days". Caal was taken to a children's hospital in Texas but unfortunately died within 24 hours. This is an example hard news as it reports on immigration and how inhumane circumstances led to a young girl passing away. This article talks about a very serious topic which has been a problem for quite a while and there has been many other problems linked to the borders. This may interest an audience as it helps people follow the problems with immigration (surveillance) as it seems to be an unfortunate problem occurring all over the

The Voice: A White Man Who Punched A Young Black Boy Walks Free

Image
A White Man Who Punched A Young Black Boy Walks Free The young 15 year old boy was running for the bus with his mother and his two little siblings and he accidentally barged a pram. The father of the baby then started to racially abuse the little boy calling him a "Black c***", the young boys mother attempted to stop the abuse but the man pushed her causing her to fall onto the bus and severely hurt her head, she was taken to hospital.  In a statement he said: “I initiated a confrontation with the boy having mistakenly thought that he had run and bashed into my son’s pram. The judge had said that his choice of words were a reaction to his child's pram being pushed so he was not arrested however he was " given a 12-month suspended sentence and ordered to do 180 hours of community service at Bolton Crown Court". In my opinion this is hard news as it touches upon a racial issue that is currently a problem in our society and it involves violence and the in

Teen Vogue: Trans performers talk about the challenges they face

Image
Trans Performers Share the Challenges They Still Face and Their Hopes for the Future These transgender performers talk about the struggles and discrimination they face in society, and even more serious personal problems such as being disowned by their parents because of their gender identity and the choice they have made to transition. They argue that it is important that the trans community is promoted in the media in order to give that certain community more exposure and accept it as a party of society now. Most of this article is based on transgenders wanting to feel "comfortable in [their] own skin" but sometimes media makes them seem different. In my opinion this is an example of hard news as it is becoming a bigger problem in society and the number of people in the LGBT community is increasing everyday which means that much more of the public will have the same views as this article and feel affected by it.  I think this would mostly appeal to an audience
