Teen Vogue: 7-Year-Old Jackeline Caal Died in Border Patrol Custody After Migrating From Guatemala

Central American migrants are arrested by US Border Patrol agents after jumping over the metal barrier separating Playas de Tijuana in Mexico from the US, 2 December 2018

A 7 year old, Jackeline Caal, has died in in Border and Customs Patrol Custody after travelling with 163 other people, some family members, to the border in New Mexico. They turned themselves in around 10:00 on December 6th, the next morning the little girl had a fever and was having seizures, it was reported that she had not "eaten or consumed water for several days". Caal was taken to a children's hospital in Texas but unfortunately died within 24 hours.

This is an example hard news as it reports on immigration and how inhumane circumstances led to a young girl passing away. This article talks about a very serious topic which has been a problem for quite a while and there has been many other problems linked to the borders.

This may interest an audience as it helps people follow the problems with immigration (surveillance) as it seems to be an unfortunate problem occurring all over the world today.

This is an example of quality journalism as it is about a very severe situation and was not published for the simple fact to entertain the audience or make profit. This article gives people an insight on the problems that are not shed enough light on.
